Finally Starting!

Hello all,

I am happy to say that I am now in Mexico and the project can truly begin. I will be traveling with a photographer, Danny Riday, throughout Mexico and Central America documenting sustainable farming as well as impoverished villages. I will be posting here more often and I hope it will be of some interest to those who follow this. For now, we are tackling Spanish since neither of us knows it. Fortunately, immersion is a great way to learn and we are immersed! We are staying with an amazing family in Mexico city at the moment and learning about the city and country from them.

Soon, we will be heading to Morelia to work with a sustainable farm/eco-village in the woods nearby. Until then, we will enjoy the amazing hospitality of Mexico with the friends we make through Couchsurfing.com.

A slow start

Hello to anyone stopping by the site during its initial construction. This website is the future home of a project that will hopefully be far reaching in its impact.

My goal is to create an organization that will use the concepts of micro-lending, group funding and charitable donations to get money into the hands of impoverished communities throughout Latin America.

This website will become a way for investors and donators to watch the progress being made by villages on their various projects. Since many people enjoy giving to charity it just seemed smart to let them enjoy the fruits of their generosity. They can watch as people prosper thanks to their contributions and investments. Also, it will allow them to get to know more about the culture and circumstances of people they may never have otherwise met or even considered.

I will be experimenting with design and layout as well as features over the next few months before I go to South America. Please leave comments anytime you’d like so that I can get feedback on what people enjoy or suggestions for changing it.

I know many of you will want to be a part of this at some point and I hope to have as much support as you are willing to offer. If I succeed in helping these villages it will be thanks to my own village of family and friends that supports me in turn.
